Sandal Design and Construction Project
Material & Texture focused
Experimental Project
The inspiration of this product came from its
material, Polypropylene Plastic Ropes which are
often used for arts and crafts. Weaving and
intersecting each rope to create this pattern
gave me joy and create a special connection
between the materials.
Sketches
Design Process involved random sketches and mostly was exploration of how strings and ropes and intersect. Another version I would like to expand on is the covered toes sandal.
Process
Prototype was made of card board and rubber tubes (from piping). I enjoyed the bulky look. I also experimented the weave on prototype before gluing to real leather sole.
